Forget the Fat!

Did you know that fats help your body absorb essential vitamins, and boost your immune system? Fat is a highly concentrated energy source, which provides twice as many calories per gram as carbohydrates and protein. However, too much of certain types of fat, like saturated fat and trans fat, can increase your blood cholesterol levels your blood cholesterol levels and also your risk of coronary artery disease. Saturated fat is most often found in animal products like red meat, poultry, butter and whole milk. Try and limit your daily intake of saturated fat to no more than about 10% of your total calories (approx. 20-25 grams a day).
